SLJ - Mondrian Art

 Here is my Mondrian art. I really like how well the colours go together. I found it challenging to make all the squares because it was long and boring.

SLJ - Which Face Is Real

 I got 9/10.

The main clue in this one is the glasses, the ones on the right have light reflecting off them which means there is flash being used on the camera, or there is light in front of them.

The man on the left has a weird neck as well.

 I found this activity sort of easy because I already knew about some weather in Māori, but some things were new to me.

 Last year I made a UV bracelet so I just hung it up outside. UV bracelets have beads that change colour if there are UV rays.

 I've written haiku poems before, but never a summer-themed one. I tried to base it around New Zealand summer but ended up doing summer in general. I don't like it.

 Seeing as I find it hard and boring to write captions (And it's the school holidays) I won't be writing captions on any of my SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) posts.

Mine is completely random, Senseless is about a book character (Dovewing), I'm cursed is about a book character (Goosefeather), Long Ago is about a book character (Briarlight), Enemy is about a character in a book I wrote (Goldenheart), and Perfect is about two book characters (Firestar and Spottedleaf)

SLJ - Which One Doesn't Belong?

 For the SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) we had to look at the pictures and work out which one didn't belong and why. I thought this was hard on some but easy on others. Please say what you think for the last one in the comments! I enjoyed getting to make my own (I drew all the art, but not all characters are mine). I found it challenging to do the one with the space ship things. To be BTB (Better Than Before) I could add more things to all of them.

SLJ - Tanerore

 For the SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) we had to create our own Maori drawing. I did ferns in the centre because they represent New Zealand, four hammerhead sharks because they represent strength (Strength of the sun), and a koru at the top because it is used in most Maori drawings. I used Kleki.com to draw on. I enjoyed getting to draw it. I found it challenging to place everything. To be BTB (Better Than Before) I could add more detail or colour it in.

SLJ - Fishy False Teeth

 For the SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) activity 'Fishy False Teeth' we had to read an article then answer some questions. After we did that we watched a video and added speech bubbles to the comic. I enjoyed getting to watch the video because it is funny. I found it challenging to think of ideas for the speech bubbles. To be BTB (Better Than Before) I could add more speech bubbles or add more detail to the ones I already have.

Summer Learning Journey - Teaser

 In the holidays I am doing SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) so at school, we had to do the teaser activity. The teaser activity was to recolour a piece of art using the ArtColouringBook app. I choose to do the step-it-up one because I wanted to do something harder. I enjoyed getting to colour the picture I choose. The best part was colouring the background and the watermelons. I found it hard to colour because when I started it was working when I clicked. To be BTB (Better Than Before) I could think more about the values of the colours I did in the background.

Things I noticed in the original piece:

 - There isn't a blue and yellow background, it's light and shadow

 - There are two people in the back, not penguins

Week 1: Day 5: Against The Odds

Activity 1: National Treasure

The first thing that is important to me is Hamish my mum gave him to me when I was just a baby, He was passed from my mum's friend to my mum and now he is mine.

The second thing that is important to me is Shilly she is our cat, She is important because she shows us that you can make it through anything. She shows us this because she was shot in the leg and still dragged herself back through the fence, to the house and in the cat door.
The last thing that is important to me is my family they are important because they give me food, water and a place to live. They also look after me when I am hurt.

Activity 2: Swimming to Safety

Yusra Mardini and her older sister left the Syrian war to find safety inn Eurep  they went from Lebanon to Turkey before departing for Greece in a dinghy. 15 minutes into the journey the boat's engine failed Yusra, her sister and 2 others jumping into the sea and pull the dinghy for 3 and a half hours to stop the dinghy capsizing. A year later she went to the olympics in the first ever refugee team. She has addressed the United Nations General Assembly and met world leaders. She now lives in Berlin, Germany and is focusing on her professional swimming career.

I think Stacy Gregg is a changemaker because she inspired me to do horse riding. Stacy Gregg writes books like the fire stallion, Pony club secrets and Pony club rivels. Stacy Gregg lives in NZ and has her own horse.

Activity 1: Making a Racket

I learnt from the first video that Serena had a child, That Serena is the top paid female athlete and that Venus is the 5th top paid female athlete.

From the second video I learnt that in 2005  Venus won Wimbledon in what was the longest women’s finale in history, Serena has earned over 80M dollars in her career and Serena won 23 grand slams.

Activity 2: What’s in a Name?

I would change my name from Lucy to Lucia pronounced Luseea because that is my name in Spanish and Spain is my favourite country.

If I could be a superhero for a day my powers would be super speed so I can run really fast to help people, Transforming so I can turn into something to save the day and earth so I can make plants grow so I could make a net out of bushes.

My sister (Ruby) has a dream job of making a petting zoo. I could help her by:

• Helping look after the animals
• Getting food for the animals
• Donating money for her
• Telling people about it
• Buying some animals for her

Activity 3: Miracle on the Hudson

My Mum was brave because when she was 17 she flew to Argentina and stayed there for a year. She did not know anybody, couldn’t speak Spanish and had never left the country. She had to spend 17 hours on the plane,16 hours on a bus and about 1 and a half hours in a ute. While she was in the ute she saw her first snake and they ran it over.
