Week 1: Day 1: In the Beginning




Activity 1: The Legend of New Zealand
  1. Aotearoa means The land of the long white cloud
  2. The largest city is Auckland but its capital is Wellington
  3. The Auckland sky tower is the largest freestanding building in the southern hemisphere


Activity 2: North and South
I live in on a farm near Greymouth on the Wet West Coast. We have a river running alongside our farm so on hot days we swim in it. Some parts are really deep!
Activity 3: Ice, Ice Baby

    on the footprint could you change the font its soooo hard to read!
    Otherwise i think it's Amazing.

    Hi Lucy

    Welcome back to the Summer Learning Journey for the 2018 summer. Its great to have you back again.

    You have made a really good start to the programme.

    For the legend of Aotearoa thank you for putting this activity into your own words that is exactly what you needed to do. Fantastic.
    We live in a really cool place. New Zealand has so many things to see and do. Have you been to Auckland to see the Sky Tower? It is really tall and has a great view from the top!

    We do live somewhere that is rains a bit, but it has been very warm and sunny lately. So it is really good that you have a river close to where you live. You will be able to go swimming on the hot days! Lucky you!

    It is great that you know all about keeping yourself safe online. We do so much online these days that we do need to make sure that we are always careful. We do everything from banking to shopping. And then there is social media. You need to make sure you are always really careful when posting on social media site. So good work with this activity.

    Its great to see that Jemma is commenting on your blog. I hope that you will return the comments to her. Remember that commenting is worth 2 points each time that you do it.

    Great work Lucy, I am really looking forward to reading your blog over the summer. I hope that you have a great holiday as well. It won't be long until it is christmas day!

      My name is Katelynn and I am from Grey Main School. I really like your digital footprint it teaches everyone how to be safe online. Maybe next time you could change the font so we can read it or make it bigger. What has been your favourite summer learning journey activity so far? I liked the design your own hotel. Your facts are also very interesting! I have been to Auckland twice and went to the sky tower it was an amazing view some parts of the floor were glass so you could see through it and it was kinda scary!
