Climate change

We had to write an information report. I enjoyed getting to research climate change. I found it challenging to write it because I haven't written one in a while. To be BTB (Better Than Before) I could make some of the paragraphs longer.

Climate change

Climate change is caused by humans. We have let greenhouse gases heat up the planet, making it hard to support human life.

Glaciers are thawing, or melting, making our sea rise. This leaves not enough room for penguins, polar bears, arctic foxes, seals, beluga whales, moose, and caribou. Did you know that if Greenland’s ice sheet melts the sea will rise by 8 meters? That would cover some of New Zealand!

Greenhouse gases are one of the causes of climate change. It has always been here but now there is more and it’s heating up our planet.

Another thing causing climate change is a hole in the Ozone layer. After a while, we made a hole that allows more heat and UV rays into the atmosphere.

Climate change is also affecting food webs and chains. Because of the glaciers melting and habitats being destroyed animals are dying. You see if a glacier melts the penguins have no home and have to move. If the penguins move the seals have no food so they leave. If the seals leave the polar bears have no food so they leave. Without seals, polar bears, or penguins the sea would become overrun with fish.

Climate change is not coming, it is here and we need to stop it. We can all help by taking public transport, walking or biking instead of taking our cars everywhere.
