Week 1: Day 5: Against The Odds

Activity 1: National Treasure
The first thing that is important to me is Hamish my mum gave him to me when I was just a baby, He was passed from my mum's friend to my mum and now he is mine.
The second thing that is important to me is Shilly she is our cat, She is important because she shows us that you can make it through anything. She shows us this because she was shot in the leg and still dragged herself back through the fence, to the house and in the cat door.
The last thing that is important to me is my family they are important because they give me food, water and a place to live. They also look after me when I am hurt.

Activity 2: Swimming to Safety
Yusra Mardini and her older sister left the Syrian war to find safety inn Eurep  they went from Lebanon to Turkey before departing for Greece in a dinghy. 15 minutes into the journey the boat's engine failed Yusra, her sister and 2 others jumping into the sea and pull the dinghy for 3 and a half hours to stop the dinghy capsizing. A year later she went to the olympics in the first ever refugee team. She has addressed the United Nations General Assembly and met world leaders. She now lives in Berlin, Germany and is focusing on her professional swimming career.

Activity 3: Own Choice
I think Stacy Gregg is a changemaker because she inspired me to do horse riding. Stacy Gregg writes books like the fire stallion, Pony club secrets and Pony club rivels. Stacy Gregg lives in NZ and has her own horse.

  1. Good afternoon Lucy!

How has your day been so far? I was in a hurry this morning so I didn’t get much breakfast. What did you have for breakfast?

Awesome work on your day 5 activities! I really like how you have written so much for each of them!

It is so special that you have something passed from your mum onto you! What is Hamish? Shilly sounds like a very brave cat!

I really like your National Treasure activity! You have talked about a lot of really special things. Thank you for sharing these.

Yusra was so brave don’t you think? I can’t imagine swimming for that long! I think that the longest I have ever swam without a break is 20 minutes. What’s the longest you have ever swam for?

You keep on impressing me with how good your posts are! Well done. Keep up this amazing work! I’m having so much fun reading everything your write.

    Matilda :)

  2. Hi Lucy
Great job, What is Hamish? Shilly sounds very brave, How long have you had her? Family are always important without them you wouldn't be alive. Yusra was very brave wasn't she. I heard she was in the last Olympics and is training for the Olympics this year.
    Keep it up
    Molly

  3. Hey!

It’s Matilda again! You made such a good start to the Summer Learning Journey but I haven’t seen any posts from you in a while! It would be really cool to see you come back and do a few more activities! Remember you don’t have to do the activities in order! You can have a look through them all and decide which ones you like the look of!

I’m hoping to see some posts from you soon!

  4. Hi Lucy! I love your work! Who is Hamish? Is he a special toy? Also, to make your work better, you could put in some punctuation marks. Other than that, your work was really cool!
