SLJ - Ultraviolet

Last year I made a UV bracelet so I just hung it up outside. UV bracelets have beads that change colour if there are UV rays.

  1. Kia ora Lucy,

Fiona here from the Summer Learning Journey. Great work sharing your UV indicator bracelet and how you hung it upside down! How did you make this cool looking UV indicator bracelet? Can you buy the beads at a shop and what colour do they change to when the UV is really high? I think I will have to buy one!

In the photo you posted it looks like a cloudy, overcast day. What colour were the beads?

I hope you are having a great summer so far. I look forward to seeing more of your awesome blogs soon!

    Mā te wā,
    Fiona (SLJ).

  2. Hello Fiona
I can't remember how exactly I made it, but there was a special knot you had to do that looked like a four. I don't know if you can buy the beads at a shop but I think you can (I was given the beads). The beads are different colours and when there's high UV they turn bright blue, pink, and yellow. On the day I took the photo they were so pale they were almost clear.
