  1. Morena Lucy,

It is awesome to see that you have been so busy over the last few days with Summer Learning Journey activities. You have thought of some great similarities and differences between a wharepuni and a modern house. I think you have acknowledged a huge difference, which is the carvings that we can see around the structure of the wharepuni. These carvings are important and historical illustrations that tell a story about the building of the wharepuni along with the tribes story. Have you ever visited a wharepuni before? If so, I would love to hear about your experience and what stories you remember hearing about the carvings.

One difference I have recognised, is that a wharepuni is one open space that has four walls. A modern house usually has a number of rooms, separated by many walls, and includes a kitchen and a bathroom. Can you think of any other features of the modern house that you would not see in a wharepuni?

I am looking forward to hearing back from you Lucy. Maybe on your next post you could include a bit more information and some pictures. I think this will attract other bloggers to comment on your work.

    Have an amazing day,
    Megan :)
