Activity 1: The Southern Lights
Lighting up the sky
It is a wonderful sight
Go and get a good view
How exciting is this
The show will begin soon
Shining, shining so brightly for all to see
Activity 2: The Seven Sisters
Their names areTupu-ā-Nuku, Tupu-ā-Rangi, Waipunarangi, Waitī, Waitā, Ururangi and Matariki.
The seven stars of Matariki represent the Maori new year.
The seven stars of Matariki appear in late May or early June.
The seven stars of Matariki are a star cluster not a constellation.

Activity 3: Crazy, Cool Clouds
Hi Lucy!
ReplyDeleteWoah day 4 done and dusted!! Nice work :)
Activity One:
This is a great acrostic poem!
I like how you have given the poem a real sense of excitement - It sounds like the person viewing the Southern Lights is having a great time!! :)
I really like the final line "Shining, shining so brightly for all to see" - I think it was a really effective way to end your poem.
Have you ever watched the Southern Lights before?
I haven't ever seen them, but I hear they are beautiful! ....I hope I will get to experience them one day.
Activity Two:
This is a great start to this activity Lucy! I really like that you were able to name the 7 sisters and what time of year Maori New Year is.
In order to get full points for this activity your post is needing to have 6-8 sentences summarising what happened in the story.
You could talk about things like:
Who were the characters? What did the characters do? How did this relate to the 7 sisters and matariki?
I look forward to hearing more about 'The Seven Stars of Matariki'. :)
Activity Three:
Hey yeah! I can see a kangaroo in that cloud! :)
For full points on this activity you need to: "tell us what you see in the photo. What shape(s) do you see? Be sure to tell us which picture (1, 2 or 3) you have chosen and describe what you see in lots of detail!"
You have done a great job in spotting a kangaroo in the cloud Lucy, now you just need to add a bit more detail!
What parts of the kangaroo can you see? Where is the baby kangaroo?
What adjectives could you add to your writing to help you describe the clouds?
It's great to see you almost at the end of week three Lucy, just make sure heading into week four you are really focussing on adding detail to your posts - You are a champ, I know you can do it!
Nga mihi,
Ellee :)
